Aircraft Finance

Aviation finance refers to the acquisition, procurement, leasing and operation of aircraft. It is constantly evolving as new finance techniques emerge in the market, such as tax-related products and Islamic banking. In the near future Cyprus is going to adopt the Cape Town Convention, in order to facilitate aircraft procurement and finance. This Convention ensures that financiers and creditors – be they owners or operators of aircraft – will benefit tremendously, since costs to airlines will be reasonably reduced. By ratifying this route, Cyprus will be the first EU member state to implement the Cape Town Convention since the European Community’s ratification.

Chetcuti Cauchi’s Aviation team supports aircraft holding and management companies in all aspects of business planning, and offers expert advice on financial, accounting and tax-related matters. We focus on aircraft transactions; including manufacturing, purchasing, leasing and maintenance. Our Aviation unit also provides assistance with tax efficient corporate structures for international aircraft operations and trust structures for estate planning and asset protection for private jets and commercial aircraft. Besides, we are involved in legal documents concerning financial institutions and airlines.
